3rd Weekend Girlfriend Weekend Great weekend for all the girlfriends to come to Jefferson. Dinner and Play at Diamond Bessie’s featuring a wonderful comedy. Laundry and Bourbon. Authors for girlfriends, featuring national book signing from women authors. Great fun at the Hair Ball, a ballroom event with live band for the ladies. The grand finale for the weekend, the bridal expo featuring businesses from the east Texas and western Louisiana area presenting the latest in wedding ideas, merchandise and fashions, plus the annual Tacky Bridesmaids Fashion Show by the Pulpwood Queens.
 
4th Weekend A Stitch in Time Quilt Show - Historic Jefferson Quilt Show and Home Tour: Special exhibits, handmade quilts, demonstrations, quilt history, vendors, and more. Homes on tour with displays of antique quilts.

Queen Mad Ball Auntie Skinners Riverboat Club is the host of our annual Mardi Gras Ball. Come and enjoy this grand kickoff to the Mardi Gras season with great dancing music and fabulous Hors d'oeuvres. Tickets are $25.00 couple/15.00 single in advance and may be purchased by contacting us online or call the Marion County Chamber of Commerce at 903-665-2672. Door tickets $30.00/20.00. Reservations are advised. After five dress is requested.
 
Mardi Gras Up-River has been celebrated here since the mid 1800's. Surely a sign of our cultural ties with New Orleans via the steamboats. Arts & Craft Vendors, Food Vendors, Carnival, Puppet Shows all weekend. 6:45 PM - Krewe of Hebe's Doo Dah Parade Beginning at Lion's Club Park, proceeding to Sterne Fountain for opening proclamation before Hebe, Greek Goddess of Eternal Youth. Finishes at Main Stage, in alley between Vale and Polk streets. 8:00 PM - Alley Dance In alley between Vale and Polk Streets, designated drinking area featuring entertainment by Diddley Squat.

 

Sweetheart Weekend Getaway Rekindle That Old Flame in Jefferson, Texas. Treat that special someone to the wonderful intimate ambiance of Jefferson. 1st Weekend Diamond Don's Vintage Motocross Races Come see world champions compete in this wonderful unique event. All Bikes are pre-1974 vintage machines. These contestants race along the beautiful Big Cypress bayou.

1st Weekend Paws on the Bayou All day event. Participants will honor their pets in this fun event. There is a pet parade featuring pets donning their best costume. 1st Weekend Diamond Bessie Murder Trial Play will be presented again this year on the stage of the Jefferson Playhouse. Six performances will be presented: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights at 8:00 p.m., two performances on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.; Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Downstairs, $12.00; balcony, $6.00. 1st Weekend Living History & Battle Reenactment Soldiers from the Civil War will set up camp this weekend and display how our soldiers lived in those difficult times. A battle enactment is planned for two days presenting a glimpse into the turmoil of the times. The soldiers will be available to talk with visitors about this era of American history.

Jefferson Jazz Festival Jefferson’s Annual ArkLaTex Jazz Fest: You will not want to miss this two-day event. The event offers a workshop where students can learn “tricks” of the trade from professional Jazz musicians. Music all day and evening deep in the heart of east Texas and only in historic downtown Jefferson.

4th Jefferson Salutes America Enjoy a taste of true Americana for our country’s birthday. Events scheduled all day long. Children’s bicycle decorating parade and contest. 3rd Sunday Annual Taste of Jefferson Dine as never before on Austin Street in historic Jefferson, Texas as the street becomes East Texas’ largest restaurant during the “14th Annual Taste of Jefferson”.  Local restaurateurs, café owners and non-profit organizations turn out samples of their finest foods for this mouthwatering event. “Last year we served food to more than 800 visitors”, said Judy Moss, Administrative Manager of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce. “Once they bought their tickets, they could wander up and down the street, choose their favorite dishes, then head back for more – if they had any room left.” The street-long feast serves up every imaginable sample from soup to a full meal. Visitors can start with a soup or salad (or both), pick innumerable entrée samples, and then top it off from a dizzying assortment of desserts. Lunch will be served Sunday, from 12:00 noon – 2:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12. Austin Street will be closed to through traffic so bring comfortable shoes for the three-block buffet. This event is sponsored by the Marion County Chamber of Commerce; sodas donated by Made-Rite of Longview, and bottled water by Sparkletts of Tyler. Last 3 Weeks Runaway Fright Train Jefferson & Cypress Bayou Railway - 400 E. Austin St. (903) 665-6400 Ride an 1870's reproduction of the "Robert E. Lee" Engine #7 along the Big Cypress Bayou. You can view a Confederate Powder Magazine along the seven-mile tour as well as the historical ruins of the Clark and Boice Sawmill and the first iron foundry in East Texas.

Only the Holiday Trail of Lights offers a diverse cultural experience with millions of lights.

Annual Candlelight Tour of Homes Thursday, Friday, Saturday 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Step back in time as docents in costume greet you for your tour of historic homes framed by candlelight and decorated for Christmas with natural greenery. Exclusive to Jefferson.
